Easter has a special significance for Christians all over the world. It is celebrated as the day Christ came back from the dead. It marks the end of the fasting period of forty days called Lent and usually falls between March end and the middle of April. It also signifies a change of season from winter to spring and consequently a celebration of new life. Organizing fancy dress parties to celebrate the occasion is just another way to bring in the warmth that the season has to offer.

The fancy dresses used in an Easter fancy dress party are also commensurate with the celebration of new life, hence the tradition to give Easter eggs to children on Easter day and have chocolate Easter egg hunts for kids. Hide the beautifully colored eggs in different areas of your house or garden and then get the kids in their various costumes to hunt for them. You can also have an Easter parade for the adults.

The Eastern fancy dress party is a very colorful event as every one is dressed in bright hues of spring like yellow, orange, pink, blue etc. Among the formal clothing, navy blue is the most preferred color. But if you want to have fun, then you need to head to your local store and check out the Easter fancy dress selection.

In case you have a new born baby or a toddler and are wondering what to dress them up as, try the baby chick costume which is a one - piece suit in bright yellow with a hood resembling the face of a chick. You could even buy the Easter bunny costume for your child. The Easter bunny is supposed to spread cheer among all. This one - piece suit comes in white and pink with a hood and attached ears, and a cute bunny tail behind. In case you do not want to get a fancy dress costume, you could simply buy the bunny ears or face mask. Other options are marshmallow costumes in bright colors.

Girls and boys could be dressed either as chickens or Easter bunnies, in keeping with the tradition of the festival. For older boys and girls, you may want to try out the chicken costume. This fancy dress is in hues of yellow with attached red chicken feet and a hood resembling the face of a chicken with a red beak. Look out for bunny costumes that come in pairs and would be ideal for siblings. The very sight of little bunnies and chickens hunting for eggs makes a delightful sight.

Since Easter is the second most important festival of the Christians, Easter parades are organized for the adults as part of the festivities. Women adorn colorful Easter dresses with matching Easter bonnets. The lace and frills add to the charm of the dresses and bonnets. You could even dress as a biblical character for the occasion.
